Many vegetarians are extremely fit and extremely active. Ensuring you get enough protein is simply part of the vegetarians daily routine. So if you’re looking for ways to cut out the meat, but don’t wan to sacrifice your energy or tough training regimes, keep reading. Below are some of the best veggie sources of protein.
Eggs: Eggs are a terrific protein and are packed with a variety of other important nutrients, especially for vegetarians. Eggs are loaded with B vitamins which are important for everyone but particularly so for those with a low or no meat diet. If you’re a veggie, but not a vegan, than eggs are a terrific high protein choice.
Lentils: If you’re not into eating any animal products than you can always opt for tasty lentils. These underrated legumes are chalked full with protein and will keep you full for a good long time without adding too many calories.
Nuts: Nuts are also terrific high protein choices. Although they tend to be a bit higher in fat than some other protein options, these are good fats. Brazil nuts or almonds are great choices and a handful of these will help get you geared up for a great workout.
Chick Peas: Chick peas are, believe it or not, a full protein. Rather than having to combine them with something else to get your full protein kick, these tasty little treats are capable of delivering everything you need. They contain all the essential amino acids and are a great addition to salads, soups or bread (as hummus).
Getting enough protein doesn’t mean you have to load up on high fat meats or animal products. You can still get enough protein in your diet from vegetarian sources to keep up an active life. Even if you are a meat eater, vegetarian proteins tend to be lower in fat and calories and are therefore a great alternative to having meat every night.
